The purpose of any consultation process or report is to provide direction for decision-making, policy or program development, and to provide feedback to the public. To do this well, the documentation must be written in language the audience understands and relate to.

Use of Placebos in Clinical Trials

Client: Health Canada and Canadian Institutes of Health Research

One World organized and implemented five day-long public consultations across Canada, exploring the perspectives of Canadians on placebo use in clinical trials.

The project scope included:

  • Process design, meeting organization and coordination
  • Liaison with the national planning committee
  • Preparation of the discussion guide, the framing of issues and the development of approaches
  • Facilitation using deliberative dialogue
  • Note-taking and final report
  • Process evaluation
